I’m Canadian, of course, I use maple syrup in everything. Well not everything, but definitely in this iced cold brew! Maple and cinnamon are such cozy flavours that go so well together, especially paired with creamy and nutty oat milk.

The maple cinnamon flavour reminds one of fall, yet the refreshing iced coffee is perfect for spring or summer. Enjoy comforting flavours any day of the year with this delicious maple cinnamon cold brew recipe.

Maple syrup provides the perfect sweetness for coffee, and you don’t risk that grainy feel. White sugar is best dissolved in hot water, so you can skip that fuss by using maple syrup, a liquid sweetener.

This is the perfect iced coffee if you’re craving Starbucks but don’t have to spend $10. And, it takes less than 2 minutes to assemble, which is less time than you’d spend standing in line. As if that’s not enough of a win, this maple cinnamon cold brew just tastes sweet, and spiced and has the creamiest texture.

What kind of oat milk is best for frothing?

Regular oat milk froths well as is, but I like to use Earth’s Own Oat Barista. When plant milk is made specifically for making coffee, it usually contains extra protein, which makes it better for frothing. And it’s creamier than regular oat milk.

How do you make cold brew?

Cold brew is made by soaking ground coffee beans in cold water for around 16-20 hours. The ratio of ground coffee to water is normally 1:8, which yields a coffee that is ready to drink as is.

I like to make concentrated cold brew, by using a 1:4 ratio. I drink a lot of coffee, so this way it lasts longer because I mellow it out with water or oat milk.

You can likely buy cold brew or concentrated cold brew from your local grocery store.

How do you froth oat milk?

My go to when it comes to frothing is to use a hand held frother. If you don’t have a hand held frother, there are other ways to froth milk.

You can shake oat milk in a jar with a lid until it’s bubbly and frothy.

You can add the oat milk to a French press and pull up and down on the plunger until frothy. The oat milk goes through the various plates and mesh pieces, incorporating air into the milk.

Ingredients

More about the ingredients in this recipe. The exact measurements are below.

  • Cold brew- It’s made by soaking ground coffee beans in cold water for 16-20 hours. The longer it sits, the stronger it will be.
  • Oat milk- I recommend using oat milk specifically for frothing. Look for oat milk that says “for frothing” or “barista”. I really like Earth’s Own Oat Barista.
  • Maple syrup- For sweetness and flavour.
  • Cinnamon- For its cozy flavour.
  • Ice cubes.

Substitutions

  • Instead of cold brew, you could use strong coffee or espresso.
  • Instead of maple syrup, you could use brown sugar for sweetness. Dissolve it in a splash of warm or hot water.
  • Instead of oat milk, you can use any plant milk.

Tips for making oat milk iced coffee

  • Use homemade cold brew- I find it has a stronger flavour than storebought versions.
  • Use oat milk labeled “barista” or “for frothing” as they’ll likely froth better than regular oat milk, due to the added protein.

What to serve with cold brew iced coffee

Pair an oat milk iced coffee with your favourite breakfast, like Vegan Bagels or Chocolate Baked Oats.

For a mid-day pick me up, enjoy coffee and a snack, like fruit, cookies, or a pastry. Try my coffee shop Cashew Danish Recipe or my Peanut Butter Oat Cookies.

Storage

This coffee drink is best drunk immediately and doesn’t store well as the iced melts. Store separate ingredients in the fridge for easy assembly.
