This easy bread twist combines your classic garlic bread with sweet caramelized onions to make a delicious appetizer, snack or side dish. It's completely vegan and super easy to assemble.
Add the milk, yeast and sugar to your stand mixer bowl and let sit for 10 minutes.
Mix on medium speed until a dough forms, then on low for 4-5 minutes until it's elastic and smooth. Rise for 1 hour.
Start cooking the onions. Cook for 3-4 minutes, and deglaze the pan with water.
Cook undisturbed for 5 minutes, then deglaze. Repeat this until they're dark brown and caramelized.
Roll the dough into a rectangle. Mix the garlic butter, and spread onto the dough.
Roll it into a log.
Slice it down the center and turn the strands outwards.
Twist the strands together and shape it into an S. Rise for 30 minutes, and bake for 35-40.
