How to make homemade vegan bagels

Making homemade bagels are the best way to ensure that they're vegan! These chewy yet fluffy bagels have a hint of sweetness, and are so fun to make.

Ingredients All purpose flour Salt Active dry yeast Maple syrup Baking powder Plant milk Desired toppings

Mix the yeast and maple syrup with warm water. Let sit for 5-10 minutes.

Mix the yeast mixture with the flour and salt. Form a tacky yet firm ball.

Knead the dough into a smooth ball.

Add a drizzle of oil to the bowl with the dough. Cover and rise for 1 hour.

Divide the dough and shape the bagels. Rise for another 30 minutes.

Add water, maple syrup and baking soda to a pot. Bring to a boil. Boil the bagels for 1-2 minutes per side.

Brush the bagels with plant milk and sprinkle with your favourite toppings.

Bake for 15-17 minutes. They should be firm and golden brown.
