Baguettes are a classic French bread that has a crispy exterior, and chewy, soft interior. Butter the outsides, load it with cheese and pan-fry until golden brown and melty. This twist on regular grilled cheese is great for lunch or dinner- and is the perfect way to use a baguette.
Slice the baguette pieces in half and butter the outsides.
Place the bottom pieces of the baguette into the heated pan, buttered sides down. Pile the cheese on top. Add the top pieces of the baguette, buttered sides up.
Fry for 3-4 minutes, until golden brown, then carefully flip and fry for another 3-4 minutes, until golden brown and melty.
Notes
Use multiple kinds of cheese for more flavour and different textures. The baguette has an uneven exterior, so be careful when flipping it.Fry over medium low heat. Too high heat will only burn the baguette without melting the cheese.
