Baguette Grilled Cheese | Baguettes are a classic French bread that has a crispy exterior, and chewy, soft interior. Butter the outsides, load it with cheese and pan-fry until golden brown and melty. This twist on regular grilled cheese is great for lunch or dinner- and is the perfect way to use a baguette.

This baguette grilled cheese is a convenient and delicious twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich! Baguettes are crusty with a chewy bite and perfect for loading with melty cheese.
Plus- they usually cost about $1 from your local grocery store bakery section.
Grilled cheese lovers will love this twist featuring a French baguette. Simply slice the baguette in half, butter it like you would a regular grilled cheese, pile on your favourite cheeses, and pan fry until golden brown and melty.
You can use whatever cheese you have on hand, but the best cheese for grilled cheese, is mozzarella! It’s melty and has the perfect pull. I always an an extra 1-2 kinds to add flavour, like cheddar or havarti.
What are baguettes?
Baguettes are a long, thin bread loaf that originates in France! They’re made with the same ingredients as most other breads but have a crispy crust and chewy, soft interior.
So how are baguettes so unique if they’re made with the same ingredients? Methods for kneading, proofing, shaping, and baking all play a part in the baguette’s unique structure and flavour.
Baguette dough is normally fermented for 12-36 hours, resulting in its distinct flavor. Scoring the dough allows for the crisp crust to form, and using a baking stone helps the heat transfer to the dough.

Add-ins for baguette grilled cheese
The best part of making grilled cheese sandwiches (besides eating them) is customizing them!
You can add all of your favourite foods like caramelized onions, like in my Cheese and Onion Toastie, or pickles, like in my Pickle Grilled Cheese.
If you like a saucy sandwich, add some Dijon mustard or a spicy sauce.
The best add in for grilled cheese is more types of cheese. That’s right. Use as many kinds of cheese as you’d like, from hard cheese like gouda to soft cheese like goat cheese.
